Today is the day when the hard work of prayerfully grinding out the business of the Committees to which Commissioners have been assigned…begins in earnest. Not much to report on except that we have been able to connect with at least 5 of our 8 PCC Commissioners…hard at work.

So this gives me the opportunity to report on a couple of instances when I have been proud to see reference to our beloved Presbytery. One was actually Saturday, in the openning session of the full General Assembly. A dozen or so Presbyteries were recognized by name for their commendable mission commitment. One was Coastal Carolina. Then today, in the Committee that is dealing with the future of Synods and Presbyteries, an advocate speaking in behalf of an overture, called out Coastal Carolina and another of our sister presbyteries in NC (Salem) as examples of how some presbyteries have changed the traditional model, and restructured in order to reach out more effectively to support congregations……………I was proud!

  1. It is great to know that our contributions to our local churches individually has helped the presbytery as a whole to be recognized for mission commitment. Furthermore, it is also good to know that the visionary mission of Coastal Carolina has gotten the attention of others. In an area–especially with my work with PW–when we are often accused of doing things in outdated ways and not being in the 21st century, it is refreshing to hear that we are moving in the right direction as a presbytery. We should all be proud to be members of the Presbytery of Coastal Carolina!
